A New Challenge

I am embarking on a new challenge- running a Marathon. I am embarrassed to tell you that it will take me 30 weeks of training, as I will need to start with 12 weeks of pre-conditioning to even be able to begin the 18 week Marathon training. Needless to say, I am excited about the challenge.

You may be wondering, "Why a Marathon and why now?" Well, I am running for my dad. My dad is a human machine. Since the diagnosis of my mom's Alzheimer's Disease he has taken health to a new and respectable extreme! My dad, at 65, runs stadium bleechers at War Memorial like it is nothing. To give you an idea of his fitness level compared to mine- I threw up my cereal after running up and down three sets of bleechers, while he completed almost 12 sets! His daily workouts are to ensure his longevity in caring for my mom. If you witnessed just how hard he pushes himself, you would see how much he loves his wife.

So, you could say I have been inspired! With Reid traveling and a lot of extra time on my hands, I figured training would be a profitable way to spend some if it. I will be training for the next 7 1/2 months, which means I will be in shape just in time for the Dallas White Rock Marathon in December. This is a huge committment for me and one I know I will struggle with. But for all the work my dad has done, I can spare a couple hours a day for the rest of the year. I love you Dad!
