Promises, Promises

Well, looks like I broke my promise to post Monday about my trip to LR. I am working in it and had intended to write about it last night. That is until I became an emotional wreck over a car! Anyway, I am working on the post and hope it will explain, not only how the weekend went, but more of the background behind my mom's illness. I just want everything to be accurate and there are still some things I need to clarify with my dad and aunt.

I am also preparing to meet Reid in Maui in Thursday for a long weekend. We are staying at the Hilton Grand Wailea (www.grandwailea.com). I am hoping this trip is relaxing, but I also want to take advantage of being in Hawaii together. I think we are planning to snorkle and/or scuba dive (I will be working on getting certified), see whales, and hike/drive around the island. Anyone know of a good car/sea sickness medicine? Unfortunately, my motion sickness usually ruins any fun for us.

And, I wanted to thank all of you who leave such encouraging comments. I originally intended for this blog to help me process my emotions through writing so I could one day look back and remember this journey. However, the encouragement and love that you all give allows me a safe place to share candidly. For that, I thank you.

I am so jealous of your trip to Hawaii!!! SO FUN! I took Meclazine (it's an offbrand of one of the popular drugs, and about a 1/4 of the cost... ask for it behind the counter at the Walgreens pharmacy). I took it at night (that way in the event that it did make me drowsy, I was already asleep!) on our cruise and NEVER got sick, which was a big deal. Also, try ginger pills. They're supposed to help too. I love you and am praying for you-- you are amazing!

Something tells me you are going to have a hard time "ruining" a trip to Hawaii with Reid ... puh-lease. Looks like you could just sit in the hotel and have a grand ole' time. They have bracelets too that are for motion sickness, that they prescribed for me when I was pregnant. I don't think you have to have a prescription though. Check it out!

Have so much fun Mare, you deserve it!!!
Love you!

JEALOUSY!!! I LOVE the Grand Wailea!!!! You are going to have the best time!!!!

Watch out for the birds at the breakfast buffet... they'll attack your plate if you take your eye off of it! :)

SO jealous of your trip!! You guys will have a blast.

I used Sea Bands (bracelets) for sickness when I was preggo and they worked great. Their original purpose is for motion sickness, so I am sure they'd be great for that too!

Thanks for all the amazing advice! I bought the Meclizine AND the wristband b/c the Pharmacist said I could use them at the same time. Now...if only birds didn't freak me out.
