10 months old this week!

When It Rains, It Pours

Dallas has had quite a bit of rainfall the last two days. There has been some flooding, but it doesn't seem to be nearly as bad as some surrounding cities. I was driving home this afternoon (on auto-pilot as usual) and took the street by our house that was closed. It was crazy to see water, not only covering the road, but flowing pretty fast. What was even more weird is that there wasn't any warning that the road was closed. But, that's Dallas for you.

A Mighty Fortress

I sang "A Mighty Fortress" for the first time this past summer. I had heard it before, but the words didn't resonate until I read them. My favorite part is the fourth stanza (I would recommend the version by Chris Rice). There is such powerful Truth in these simple words. Its amazing that God can use a hymn written in the 1500's to continue to prune my wicked heart. That word above all earthly pow'rs -- No thanks to them abideth; The Spirit and the gifts are ours Thru Him who with us sideth. Let goods and kindred go, This mortal life also; The body they may kill: God's truth abideth still -- His kingdom is forever.
